Shoegaze

Shoegaze is a subgenre of alternative rock defined by ethereal, heavily effects-laden guitar textures, obscured vocals, and a dense, “wall of sound” production. Emo, originating from the 1980s Washington, D.C. hardcore scene, emphasizes confessional, introspective lyrics, dynamic shifts between soft and loud passages, and melodic yet raw guitar work.
